It's time to get those creative juices flowing, BBMS! Celebrate those special heroes in your life by entering this year's PTA Reflections contest. Prizes will be awarded to the best original entries in the following categories:
This year's theme is: Heroes Around Me. These can be everyday heroes like that one friend who gave up their time to help you through some homework OR that one teacher who gave you a piece of encouragement and meant it! All these tiny little deeds make someone a hero - they don’t necessarily have to fit the common definition. Show us what their actions meant and design a tribute showing what their actions meant to you!
No experience is required to participate in Reflections! All entries must be original - they can even be something you've already begun in class or on your own but just haven't submitted yet. Choose the Arts category that you are interested in, create an original piece of artwork based on the theme “Heroes Around Me,” and be recognized as the true artist that you are in your community.
Please read the following rules carefully so your entry is not disqualified!
Official Rules: http://mdpta.org/documents/18-19ReflectionsOfficialRules.pdf
Category Rule Sheets: http://mdpta.org/documents/Appendix3RulesSheetsforSixArtsAreas.pdf
Deadline for submissions is November 16, 2018. No late entries can be accepted! Please turn in your entries to the BBMS Front Office.
STAFF CONFERENCE DINNER
On November 19th, the PTA Hospitality Committee will provide dinner for the wonderful BBMS staff to help them get through the LONG night of conferences. We need donations of food, drinks, desserts, etc to make the dinner a success. Click on the link to see how you can help out!
PALS- Parents Assisting Lunch Shifts- easy way to get involved!!
Assisting in the cafeteria is a great way to be a part of the school atmosphere and see the students interacting. We need volunteers for any and all lunch shifts, ensuring that there aren’t too many students leaving at one time to go to the bathroom or shop in the Shark Shop on Fridays - low stress, but fun to be a part of the kid’s day. Click here and sign up today!
THANK YOU- we can’t do it without you!!
Thank you to Gina McGuinness, Kyle Reardon, Fran Koung, and Grace Koung who represented BBMS PTA at the HC DrugFree Drug Take Back Day on Saturday morning. They toughed it out in the rain and cold- but for such a wonderful cause!!!! Thank you!
THANK YOU to our generous community!! Our HCPSS coat drive brought in 75 coats and lots of hats, scarves, and gloves to keep those in our community a little warmer this winter!! The community generosity + support= AMAZING!! Thank you Jennifer Flagg for your efforts on this cause!
GT Parent Academy
Join the GT Parent Academy for Navigating the College Admissions Process on November 8th from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the Mt. Hebron High School Auditorium. This academy is most appropriate for 8th-12th grade students and families but anyone can attend!
Preparing for the college application and admissions process can be a really exciting time for students—a time to explore their interests, think about their future and begin to take ownership of their life plans. It can also be a stressful time not just for them but their entire families. In this session, discover how to prioritize the things that can best impact the process, focusing conversations and energy on the things that matter most. We’ll review important steps for preparation, key conversations to have as a family, and the best ways to prepare for the outcomes.
Join Joy Scalabrin, Admissions Officer from Johns Hopkins University, as she shares her insights and advice. As an Admissions Officer with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Joy Scalabrin is the regional representative for Maryland and DC and is involved in the recruitment and selection of first-year and transfer students to the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and Whiting School of Engineering.
